QotD: John Lennon

No. No musicals. I loathe musicals. I never did have a plan for doing one. My cousin made me sit through some fucking musical twice. I just hate them. They bore me stiff. I think they’re just horrible. Even Hair. And they’re always lousy music.

Oh so well put. As the only musical I ever liked was ‘Oliver!’ (with Jack Lester, Ron Moody, Oliver Reed et al) I empathise with John’s words. As an avid Beatles fan I would though, wouldn’t I?

This is probably why I find most of his work so boring. Some of the best stuff I’ve ever sung is from musicals. They’re fantastic. Or can be - I wouldn’t claim universal satisfaction.

Just as long as you’re not dissing John Lennon and lauding Andrew Lloyd Webber in the same breath!
