If I hadn’t already known offline, let alone been waiting for it to blossom in excruciating pain for months, this would have been one of those “$TECHNOLOGY is changing the way we view the world” posts.
Instead, here is a picture of Pia:

A friend of mine woke up one day, looked at Facebook, and his girlfriend had changed her status away from ‘in a relationship’. Good times.
Did he roll over and push her out of bed?
Just over 10 years ago I went to the wedding of some friends of mine who had met via IRC a few years earlier (he lived in the US, she was then at Aberystwyth in Wales, where I was). A well known geek friend of mine proposed to his then girlfriend via either IRC or a bulletin board talker system (can’t remember which) around that time (possibly a bit earlier) too..
Old news..
daniels, it’s not quite as good because it wasn’t my own marriage, but I recently found out about a soon-to-come divorce among my friends via status updates and relationship changes.
The announcement that “X and Y are now married on Facebook!” is always funny, because I’m yet to see it happen for people who didn’t get “married in real life!” a considerable time ago.
Heh. I just noticed today that my little brother’s relationship status is “engaged”. I wonder if Mum knows – she’s been on his case to marry her for months and months.
Your little brother is engaged to your Mum, and she doesn’t know?
