Konqueror on Windows probably wouldn’t be a good idea since it is very much intended for those who like swiss-army-knife-software with a bit of everything and a windows version would have great difficulty offering the high level of integration KDE users have come to expect. Konqueror is after all much more than a browser.

This might be bad news for Firefox in the short term if Safari (and any other WebKit based browsers) surpass it in market share but in the longer if Safari is successful it will mean more better designed web sites instead of pages slumming it in the “optimized for Internet explorer” ghetto, and we all win.

Used Safari for a bit and it feels odd because I’m so used to the small differences of the Gecko rendering engine. For whatever reason I do feel more substantially more comfortable using Safari than when last I tried out Konqueror. And yes it is a bit crashey.

@Maxo: I had the same problem… Ended up trying it in Vista. With brushed metal and small/crappy fonts, it’s unfortunately very ugly. I’m hoping for their sake that they switch to the slicker Mac style for the final release — I can’t see too many people ditching the fresh and peppy looking Firefox for this drab and inscrutable Safari.

I tried to install it with Wine. The first problem is that the program is looking for the .dlls with all caps naming, but they are saved all lower case. I made the .dlls all caps, but then the first .dlls file causes some error and it closes.
It’s all good because Firefox is better than Safari IMO.

Safari does look a bit weird with a menu bar… still my preferred browser on OS X though, with Camino a close second. The new 3.0 “features” (apart from “running on Windows”) aren’t exactly mind-blowing, though– went back to v2 after about 5 mins!

The only thing I like about safari is the engine If I ever ever want to use that on Windows, I’ll wait for Konqueror 4 Will be open-source too, unlike safari!
