(On Byrnes) I agree.
Perhaps there’s a dogwhistle somewhere that I missed, but what I saw was a cinematic feast and a [historically inaccurate] presentation of an awe-inspiring event in the development of western culture.
To respond to it ad hominem suggests that Byrnes is in deep denial about [western] society’s dependence upon military strength.
