Somehow, we (AU) managed to avoid becoming "West Island" in the process. Mind you, there are still maps around showing WA as "largely unexplored". OTToMH .au's contribution includes listing North Island as one state & South Island as another. It'd answer conference location questions quickly: Q: is it in Australia? A: Yes, the skinny cold bit south-east of Sydney. Also, we'd start getting decent ice-cream in the shops. Various bits of law WRT an .nz/.au merger have existed for a long time.
