When GNOME’s mail server spat the dummy last month, I took the opportunity to get stuck into a bit of sysadmin again, having focused on other areas of GNOME for a while. After a good chunk of analysis and repair, it’s rocking along very nicely.
Rocketing, even — the server to server round-trip time for list email is now consistently under 10s, usually around 3s. The only downside is that the quick response time encourages the kind of lengthy, real-time discussion threads we’ve been having recently.
Additionally, we’re doing a lot more to combat junk mail at the MTA level, so I’m hoping that list moderators have noticed way less spam in their queues. That crap can drive you nutty after a while.
Here are some perky graphs of gnome.org mail load over the last month. Turns out it’s much smaller than I thought. But at least it has a consistent rhythm now!

As a member of the moderator team, I would like to express my thanks, 2/3 weeks ago, the spam was at an all time high, sometimes with hundreds of e-mails making the moderator level daily, it was heck, now, my shift gets like 5.
Many thanks my good man
