I made a pact with myself a while back, and thought I should document it publically, so that the world may laugh if I ever show signs of weakness. I have committed to always using official Ubuntu kernels on my systems, unless I am explicitly doing Ubuntu kernel related testing or development (such as testing new features for recommendation during our development period, etc). I even kept this oath when I couldn’t load a custom DSDT on my laptop, leaving me with no battery status. Sure, it was hard, but I like to call it character building.
Of course, if you really love building your own kernel (and when I say building, I don’t mean compiling - that’s what kids do!), you might want to join the Ubuntu kernel team. They have real ultimate power, and you can too.
